Collection methods: Small random samples which make up this collection were made by Charles B. Read in the 1930s and by Sergius Mamay and Ellis Yochelson in the 1950s. Specimens are housed in the Paleobotanical Collections, University of Illinois; coal balls have accession numbers: 2022, 2039, 2050, 2052, 2059, 9165, 9864, 9865, 9872, 9873, 9891-9896, 9928, 9929, 9930-9932, 10471, 10473, 10475. Additional collections are housed in the National Museum of Natural History under USGS locality number 8764.
